More than a club and more than just a football team, CFR Cluj 1907 represents a phenomenon.
The ambitious promotion from the 3rd Romanian league to the 2nd in 2001 gave a real boost to an amazing performance acme – 7 years of great performance, culminating in 2008 with a double victory: winning both the Romanian 1st League and the Romanian Cup. CFR 1907 Cluj took the champions’ title out of Bucharest after almost 20 years.
Specialists consider this performance to be the result of a good management system sustained by consistent financial investment plans, not forgetting long term clear objectives and perfectly synchronized squads.

After a rather shy contact with the 1st League during 2004-2005 season, CFR's managers have changed the paradigm of classical Romanian football, massively investing in foreign players with experience in stronger championships, such as those from Portugal, Argentina, or Sweden. All these transfers gave a new dimension to Romanian 1st League budgets while turning CFR 1907 Cluj into the most multicultural team in the country. National Champions, CFR 1907 Cluj will play for the first time directly into the groups of Champions League, which is an amazing opportunity and reward for players, sponsors and fans.
Moreover, even before its victory in the domestic championship, CFR 1907 Cluj has been designated as the fifth most loved football club in Romania by prestigious market research institutes, despite its relatively new entry as top performer. A real raw-model for all Romanian clubs with ambitious targets, CFR 1907 Cluj will face in 2008/2009 season the biggest challenge in its 100 year history – Champions League, the supreme football competition is to be played also in Cluj!
