Lars Hirschfeld: "The match in Bordeaux will be very difficult!"
Tweetcfr1907.ro: How do you feel at the age of 30?
Lars Hirschfeld: (laughing) “I feel just fine and I couldn’t be happier. Anyway, age is just a state of mind.”
cfr1907.ro: How did you celebrate your birthday?
Lars Hirschfeld: “In a plane, coming back to Romania. I was called to the Canadian national team and had a match, a day before, against Mexico, 2-2. My family was in the stadium and they were singing “Happy birthday!” for me. An interesting experience!”
cfr1907.ro: How do you spend your spare time?
Lars Hirschfeld: “I spend the little spare time I have learning Romanian and other foreign languages. I am always looking for new things to learn and do. Other than that I read, just finished three books last week and the most interesting was John Milton’s “Paradise Lost”. When it’s quiet, I like to play the guitar.”
cfr1907.ro: Some “interesting” facts about Lars Hirschfeld?
Lars Hirschfeld: “I’m not your average football player, quieter, who doesn’t talk to the press and doesn’t like to get into all kinds of discussions. The only car I’ve ever driven, besides those from the clubs, was Volkswagen Beetle. I began when I was 16 years old, when I got my driving licence and had all kinds of Beetles from ’69 to ’82 and now I have one from ’65. My father and brother collect classic cars and they passed this passion on to me. Overall, my family owns about 8 “Beetles”.”
cfr1907.ro: Do you like Romania? What have you visited so far?
Lars Hirschfeld: “Unfortunately I have little time to go out and explore. Still, I managed to go to Poiana Braşov, in wintertime, and I also passed through Sighişoara. I liked what I saw. I have a “to do” list, that is waiting for me to check another destination. The next would be “The Bear Cave”.”
cfr1907.ro: What are your future plans?
Lars Hirschfeld: “Football is a funny sport, from this point of view, because you never know where you will be tomorrow. For now I am happy I am healthy. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. You know what they say: “God laughs when He hears what you plan on doing tomorrow.”
cfr1907.ro: What are CFR 1907 Cluj’s chances in Bordeaux?
Lars Hirschfeld: “I think that our results are fantastic. We have been working on our weaker spots and I think the team is united, we have good results, we are playing against big teams and everything is fine. The match in Bordeaux will be as difficult as they get, we are still far away from qualifying, but if we concentrate and do our best, we will get what we want. We must believe in our strength and take advantage of this chance. I will keep my fingers crossed!”
