CFR 1907 Cluj had as opponent in the last match of the group stage in the Champions League competition, the Italian side, AS Roma. The first 5 minutes, both teams hesitated, preferring to follow the tactics of their opponents. The first scoring opportunity which made the crowd attending the game in the Dr.”Constantin Rădulescu Stadium to startle, was the direct free kick from the team captain of AS Roma, Francesco Totti. Emmanuel  Kone was the first one that had a notable chance in the 13th minute but Bogdan Lobonț  saved our player's shot. Rome’s goal came in the 22nd minute, Marco Borriello being the one who scored.De Zerbi could have brought the draw on the scoreboard if he had scored from a convenient position.The score at half-time, 0-1. The second half started with an opportunity for the visiting side, but Stăncioiu saved amazingly from under the crossbar. In the last 10 minutes of the game CFR 1907 Cluj  put some serious problems to the team coached by Claudio Ranieri. Traore scored in the 89th minute the goal which brought the team a fully deserved draw. Sașa Bjelanovic could have brought the victory but the chance was not on his side. Score at full-time 1-1
