Match report: Weak result at home
TweetAlthough they didn’t take any points against Rapid, Ioan Andone’s boys promised in Giulesti a complex and strong game play, determining president Muresan to predict an easy win for CFR against Craiova. Without Dani’s consistency and Dubarbier’s explosion, our team didn’t double the premium run in the previous stage.
The match started off calmly, with two proud teams searching for the other’s moment weakness. Oberman caused Rose a yellow card in the 3rd minute when he showed off his superior speed and it seemed that Andone’s bet could make a difference at his second presence in the cherry-colored shirt. The first shot on goal came in the 7th minute from Leao, but Bornescu proved his good form.
The first serious chance of the match came after a touch by Semedo over the bar from Perreira’s cross. Craiova replied through Baird, who had a powerful low shot picked up by fresh national team member Stancioiu. In the 18th minute, after a confusing situation in Universitatea’s penalty box, the ball reached De Sousa who, from 2 meters, headed the ball into the net.
After the goal, our team slowed down, only with Ruiz unconvincingly trying Craiova’s goal.
Andone began the second half with the same squad. The apathy in the first half turned, with each minute, into helplessness. Fresher, the Craiova players took advantage of this and, in the 53rd minute, equalized through Rose, after Stancioiu blocked right from the goal line. Andone forced the win close to the end by sending Didi and Deac in to replace Oberman and Trica, but the scoreboard froze at 1-1 until Cristian Balaj whistled the end of the match.
CFR 1907 Cluj lost the first points at home in front of their fans, after a disappointing match for those who saw the derby against Rapid.
